Continuing my 12 Days of Christmas and Day 7! Now, if you haven't tried the Ranger Ink Tim Holtz Distress Oxides, I'm not sure where you've been hiding. I use them for backgrounds - stenciling and mix media - as well as distressing and stamping. The best tools for ink blending are the Scrapbook.com Domed Foam Blender Tools!
To show off different ways to use Distress Oxides, I made a thank you card (I wanted to use my Buttercup Stencil and I just couldn't think of a way to make it Christmas-y so... we're going with a thank you card again). My background is stenciled with Bundled Sage and then I mixed some Wild Honey with Cloud Whip to create a paste! I added it in a messy way to the flowers in the stencil and once it was dry, trimmed it down to fit on my card base.
I also added some splatter with Chipped Sapphire and then inked the edges of my background and my sentiment as well. My "Thanks" was stamped with Distress Oxide and because it stays wet for a little bit, I added some embossing powder in gold to give my stamped sentiment a distress look as well.
To add more to the card, I also added some die cut leaves and Pops of Color in glitter. I keep my Distress oxides and inking tools right next to my glass mat - like I said I grab them daily! I also have collected enough domed foam applicators so I can have a color for each ink pad. I re-use them over and over until they get too funky or when ink blend with a color that darkens my applicator too much.
