I am LOVING my card for last Friday's episode of Craft Roulette. I will admit that the project including a "mini drop down" had my brain scrambling a bit, but I remembered that I have Heffy Doodle's Mini Double Slider Dies and thought it was a perfect way to meet the parameter. The other parameters this week were to use colors inspired by patterned paper, include a bouquet and three layers. Scrapbook.com has beautiful floral dies and I used coordinating paper and ink with Sunny Lane Patterned Paper for the colors. The Sunny Lane Florals also help me with the bouquet and I did each flower with at least three layers!
To make the card, I started with my stenciled background of daisies. I used Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold Distress Oxides to color them and splattered around the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide and a pink metallic watercolor. I die cut it out with the largest A2 nested rectangle and also a piece of green cardstock and the pretty checkered patterned paper with smaller sizes in the nested set of dies.
When the background was die, I glued the green rectangle to the center and added Raspberry Kiss Pops of Color to the center of the daisies that showed. Using different colors that matched the checkered pattern paper, I die cut out the different flower pieces and leaves, and distressed them a bit with matching colors - the ones I've listed so far as well as Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides. I glued the layers together and then splattered them with the same pink metallic watercolor.
To make the double slider, I partial die cut the tab piece so I had the rounded corners on two, long strips of white cardstock. I stamped my sentiment from Sunny Lane on the end of the one that will peek out at the bottom. I put together the sliding mechanism and trimmed down the two strips so that way it would fit along the back of the checkered piece of cardstock (if you would like to see a video on this in the future, please let me know). I also die cut out the notch from my checkered paper and fit the pull arrow die cut so it would fit not he second tab piece for the card receiver to know where to pull.
The mechanism is attached to the back of the checkered piece and then I used foam adhesive to glue it to the center of the green cardstock. I then layered the flowers and leaves using wet glue until I crated a bouquet that I really liked. Finally, I added more Pops of Color in Raspberry Kiss and Sunshine to the centers of my flowers.
I think this card is perfect for Spring, Easter and Mother's Day! So may different ideas can be used with this card layout and I think it would be fun to switch up the colors for different themes.
