I have another watercolored card today featuring products from Picket Fence Studios! This time I'm putting this large image from Santa Claus Comes Tonight on a 5x7 shaker card. I started with stamping out my image with Pinecone VersaFine Clair and colored him in with Distress Watercolor Pencils. When it was dry, I cut around the image but I did not leave any white around the image for this card.
Next I made my background with green ink and the cute reindeer stencil. I used a blending brush and gave it am ombre look with the darker ink at the bottom of the panel. I trimmed this panel down to 4-3/4x6-3/4" and glued it to the center of my 5x7 card base panel. I also trimmed my shaker window border out of some patterned paper - this was 4-7/8x6-7/8" and I cut out a window a half inch smaller with my paper trimmer.

Using the frame as a guide, I stamped my sentiment onto the reindeer stenciled panel. I glued an acetate sheet behind the shaker window and used thick foam tape behind the paper border. For the shaker bits, I added the adorable shaker mix with clay cookies as well as some red and green shaker garnishes. There is quite a bit, but this is a pretty big shaker card.
Finally I glued my large image to the front of the shaker panel and that finishes off this big card! 5x7 cards are definitely different than what I normal do, but I've been enjoying stepping a little bit out of my comfort zone! I have one more project during this guest designing term and I can't wait to show you it soon.
