Magical School Acceptance Letter with Owls from Miss Ink Stamps

Friday, February 14, 2025

Hi friends, I'm so excited to share a card featuring the new Magic Collection! For this project, I used the Owls stamp set and coordinating dies, along with the Postage Seal and Shaker dies. I started by stamping my owl images in a brown alcohol marker-friendly ink and used my OLO markers to color them in. Since I wanted a more vibrant outline, I restamped the images with Pinecone Versafine ink after coloring. For the owl coloring, I used O7.7 for shadows, O7.3 as a mid-tone, and O7.1 to blend it all together. To give the owls extra character, I added pink cheeks with R0.2 and some stippling for texture. I also colored 11 envelopes using YO2.0 and R1.5 for the wax seals. If you want to see more details on how I colored these images, be sure to check out my video for all my tips!

Next, I created a faux wax seal using the largest die from the Postage Seal and Shaker collection, cutting it from red cardstock. To add depth, I blended Lumberjack Plaid and Black Soot Distress Inks. After assembling the envelope-inspired background with distressed beige cardstock, I layered my wax seal to make it look indented and glossy. I positioned my owls so each one held a letter, scattering the rest across the card for a magical, letter-flying effect. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, "I heard you're waiting for a letter," to tie in the whimsical theme. A few white gel pen highlights added shine to the wax seal and envelopes. I love how this card turned out, and I hope it brings you inspiration! Let me know in the comments what magical theme you’d love to see on a card. Happy crafting!
